500bhp Peugeot 106 Cosworth Confirmed for the TRAX Icons Display

Think you’ve seen every engine swap imaginable? Think again. One of the wildest builds in the UK modified car scene is heading to Silverstone this August, with a jaw-dropping Peugeot 106 Cosworth joining the TRAX Icons display.
Packing around 500bhp, four-wheel drive and the legendary Ford Escort Cosworth YB engine beneath its widened bodywork, this isn’t your average French hot hatch. It’s a one-of-a-kind creation that perfectly embodies the innovation, engineering and imagination that make the TRAX Icons display one of the highlights of the show.
A Peugeot 106 Like You’ve Never Seen Before
At first glance, it looks like an aggressively styled Peugeot 106 wearing a Maxi body kit inspired by the legendary Group B rally era. Look a little closer, however, and you’ll realise this build is something altogether different.
Under the skin sits a complete Ford Escort Cosworth WRC powertrain, including the turbocharged 2.0-litre Cosworth YB engine and four-wheel-drive drivetrain. Producing around 500bhp, the combination creates an astonishing power-to-weight ratio in a car that originally tipped the scales at little more than 800kg. It’s the sort of build that makes you stop in your tracks.

Engineering on Another Level
Fitting the Cosworth running gear into such a compact shell was no simple task. The build required extensive fabrication, including modifications to accommodate the Cosworth transmission tunnel, drivetrain and suspension within the Peugeot chassis.
The widened Maxi arches allow for a much broader track, housing rally-inspired wheels and wide performance tyres to help transfer all that power to the road.
Inside, the transformation continues with a fully stripped motorsport interior featuring a welded roll cage, bucket seats and race-inspired instrumentation. Every detail reflects the car’s uncompromising approach to performance. The result is a machine that combines the nimble dimensions of a classic French hot hatch with the explosive acceleration, grip and character of one of rallying’s most iconic performance cars.

Part of an Incredible TRAX Icons Line-Up
This incredible Peugeot 106 Cosworth is just one of the standout builds that visitors will be able to experience in the TRAX Icons display at Silverstone. Joining it will be an equally impressive collection of hand-picked feature cars, including a stunning Prior Design Audi S2, a beautifully built Datsun 240Z, a wild Nissan 370Z and a track-focused Subaru Impreza, alongside many more exceptional machines that celebrate the very best of modified car culture.
Whether you’re into engineering masterpieces, immaculate restorations or outrageous performance builds, the TRAX Icons display promises something to stop every enthusiast in their tracks.
